Bandstand Busking at Meltdown 2011

Saturday 18 June

The Meltdown Bandstand Busking Stage

Southbank Centre is delighted to welcome back Bandstand Busking to Meltdown for the second year running, to present a packed bill of top names. This year’s headliners are the extremely talented Guillemots, with more exciting acts to be announced: this free event is certainly not one to miss.

Since founding in 2008, Bandstand Busking have been bringing bands from all over the world to play in London’s parks, filming a few songs and posting them online for all to see. Past artists have included Wild Beasts and Micachu, Black Lips and Vivian Girls, Caitlin Rose and Emmy The Great , amongst many others. All past performances are available to view on the Bandstand Busking website including a selection from last year’s Meltdown festival. Follow Bandstand Busking  on Twitter and Facebook to keep up with announcements about this event.

Dark Dark Dark

– Dark Dark Dark at Hampstead Heath Bandstand –

Dark Dark Dark treated us to our first busk of 2011 on a blustery Sunday afternoon on Hampstead Heath. Above is a unique (sans-keyboard) performance of ‘Daydreaming’, from the band’s wonderful album ‘Wild Go’.

Playing as a four piece; Marshall, Nona, Brett and Walt treated us to a handful of songs.

Hear more of their music here.

Enjoy!

We’re back!

Hello!

Bandstand Busking is back after a long and lengthy winter (and spring) hibernation. It’s all change here; we’ve got a new website, new logo, new camera gear and a fresh and eager thirst to book in some new incredible busks.

To kick things off we spent some time this week with Dark Dark Dark in Hampstead Heath and Ra Ra Riot at the Southbank Center and filmed them performing a few songs.
